Physical Description: Work in progress. Pale, smooth grey skin. Can appear as different humanoids.
Society: Work in progress. Sheltered tribes mingling in humanoid societies.
Relations: Work in progress. Good with humans and gnomes, bad with goblinoids.
Alignment and Religion: Work in progress. Chaotic or neutral alignments. Often revere gods of change, shapechange or travel.
Adventurers: Work in progress.
Names: Work in progress. Simple, one-syllable names. Male and female names are the same. The names of their personas often have share syllables with their true name.
Changelings have the following ancestry:
.Changeling Ancestry
+2 to One Ability Score: Changelings retain the varied nature of their human heritage.
Medium: Changelings are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Humanoid: Changelings are humanoids with the shapeshifter subtype.
Normal Speed: Changelings have a base speed of 30 feet.
Blend In: Changelings treat Linguistics and Disguise as class skills.
Minor Shape Change (Su): Changelings have the supernatural ability to alter their appearance at will as though using the disguise self spell, with the following modifications.
- This ability is a supernatural shapechanging ability and is not subject to dispelling. Any spell or ability that would reveal a shapechanger's true form, such as the true seeing spell, also functions on a changeling's minor shape change ability.
- Using this ability is a full-round action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity.
- This ability only affects the changeling's body, not their possessions or clothing. A changeling cannot use this ability to disguise permanent or grievous injuries and disfigurements, such as lost eyes, severed hands or massive wounds.
- This is ability is not an illusory effect, but rather a (minor) physical alteration of the changeling's facial features, skin colour, texture, size, voice and smell, to the limits of the spell.
- As per the disguise self spell description, a changeling can alter herself physically to be 1 foot shorter or taller, thin or fat, or anywhere inbetween. Her creature type remains the same, but she can appear as another subtype. She can add or obscure minor features, look as a different gender or as an entirely new person. This ability does not grant her any new abilities or specific qualities granted by disguised races, such as changes to movement speed, vision or size.
- A changeling can use this ability at will, with the alterations lasting indefinitely until she uses this ability again. The shapechange persists even when the changeling is not maintaining it, such as during sleep or unconsciousness. A changeling will automatically revert back to her natural form when killed.
- This ability allows the changeling to appear as anyone she desires, whether they be a specific or original person, granting a +10 circumstance bonus on Disguise checks to do so.
Naturally Social: Changelings receive a +2 racial bonus on Bluff, Intimidate and Sense Motive checks.
Slippery Mind: Changelings gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against sleep and charm effects.
Languages: Changelings begin speaking Common. Changelings with a high Intelligence score can choose from the following: Auran, Dwarven, Elven, Gnome, Halfling and Terran.
Alternate Ancestry
The following racial traits may be selected instead of existing changeling ancestry. Consult your GM before selecting any of these new options.
Diminutive Disguise: A changeling can use her minor shape change ability to physically alter her size, appearing as creature of one size category less than her base size. This allows a medium-sized changeling to disguise herself as a halfling, gnome, goblin or other small humanoid creature without a size penalty to her Disguise check. This ancestry modifies minor shape change and replaces slippery mind.
Inspired Origins: A changeling begins play speaking Riedran. She adds Common to her list of bonus languages. She has the Naturally Psionic and Psionic Aptitude ancestry (see Ultimate Psionics). This ancestry modifies languages and replaces naturally social.
Magical Shapechange: A changeling can use her minor shape change ability to alter her magical aura, appearing as a medium-sized creature of the outsider (native) type. This allows a changeling to disguise herself as an aasimar, fetchling, undine or other native outsider creature without a race or type penalty to her Disguise check. This ancestry modifies minor shape change and replaces slippery mind.
Favoured Class Options
The following options are available to all changelings who have the listed favored class, and unless otherwise stated, the bonus applies each time you select the favored class reward.
Soulknife: The soulknife adds a +½ circumstance bonus on critical hit confirmation rolls with the mind blade. This bonus does not stack with Critical Focus.
Rogue: The rogue gains 1/6 of a new rogue talent.
Soulknife: The vigilante gains 1/6 of a new vigilante talent.
Ancestry Archetypes
The following ancestry archetypes are available to changelings.
Face Trickster (Vigilante)
A changeling face trickster draws upon her doppelganger heritage to assume multiple personas and encourage societies to embrace change and falsehoods. A face trickster vigilante has the following class features.
Work in progress. Cabinet of Faces archetype. Gain multiple identities, one at 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th, 20th, can be social or vigilante, still separate personalities. Gain bonuses for skills, spell schools and combat maneuvers in different identities.
New Ancestry Rules
The following options are available to changelings. At the GM's discretion, other appropriate races may also make use of some of these.
